From October 10, 2022, until May 10, 2023, in the Khromtau area, Aurora Minerals Group headed by the leading specialists has successfully completed the volume of drilling works with the geological support for the construction of the second stage of the mine of Donskoy GOK - a branch of TNC Kazchrome JSC, that meets the high requirements of the industry.
The drilling team of NOVA Drilling LLP carried out the complex drilling works. Geologists of Aurora Minerals Group performed geological support of drilling works and geotechnical documentation.
Drilling of the oriented core was performed using special equipment, placed on the drill pipe. The kit allows us to measure the drill hole deviation angle and its direction relative to the geographic north.
Drilling support is a set of activities aimed at quality control and coordination of the drilling process (core documentation, sampling, etc.). Performance of geological support complied with the Terms of Reference, QA/QC methodologies, KAZRC Code 2021, and Aurora Minerals Group LLP's internal quality regulations.
The downhole and ground control survey of the drill holes was performed by the «Aurora Geophysics» company.
According to the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, drilling sites were rehabilitated upon completion of drilling.
In the process of documentation of the oriented core along the drill hole, fractures on the core were subdivided into artificial, natural, open, and cemented. Based on lithological differences, secondary changes, rock strength, microfracturing, geological intervals were distinguished.
The team of geologists uses the latest methods and technology to get the most accurate information about the site's geology. Geological documentation is made directly to a database on a computer or tablet. A reference collection of rocks and ores was compiled during documentation to eliminate the subjective approach of documenters. Geological core photo-documentation allows a more detailed study of rocks, identification of minerals and geological structures, and provides a more accurate analysis of the results.
Specialists applied lines to cut the samples. Half of the core was packed in a sample bag with a polyethylene liner, and the other half was left in a storage box, after which the samples were sent to the laboratory for analytical testing.
All exploration works were carried out in strict compliance with safety requirements and applicable rules, standards, and norms on environmental protection in accordance with the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Workers were fully provided with PPE, protective clothing, and necessary tools when carrying out work.
Aurora Minerals Group LLP adheres to strict safety standards in its operations, and pre-job briefings are a key activity in this area. During the training, employees were trained in the use of modern methods and techniques to ensure safety when working with machinery and equipment. This helped improve the quality and efficiency of work, as well as improving working conditions and reducing the likelihood of accidents in the workplace.
