In 2022, geological prospecting works were carried out at the KAZ Minerals Group's Bozshakol area, the purpose of which was geotechnical studies of the oriented core and hydrogeological tests to assess the pore pressure and filtration properties of the rock mass in the sides of the quarry.
The complex of drilling operations was carried out by drilling crews of the following companies: NovaDrilling LLP and Aurora Quest Services Limited. Geologists of Aurora Minerals Group LLP carried out work on geological support and geotechnical documentation.
As a result of the high-quality performance by AMG specialists of the first stage of work, an agreement was concluded for additional volumes.
Geotechnical documentation was carried out according to the methodology and under the supervision of specialists of the KBL Kazminerals Bozshakol company. In the process of geotechnical documentation of the oriented core, all types of geological disturbances (cracks, cleavage, crushing zones, etc.) were identified, and their orientation in space was also determined. Geotechnical domains were distinguished on the basis of lithological differences, secondary changes, rock strength, microcrackage. Geologists also made a photo documentation of the core. The core was photographed in dry and wet form (digital documentation) on a special stand with a scale rule and a color indicator.
Further, geologists of the Aurora Minerals Group applied markings of geotechnical samples. The selected samples were signed and photographed separately, then sent to the laboratory for analysis.
All geological exploration was carried out in strict accordance with safety requirements and applicable regulations, standards of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The working staff during the work was fully provided with the appropriate PPE, overalls and necessary tools.
Before the start of the work, all employees passed a basic training. During the work, the employees complied with all the necessary requirements of instructions, rules, regulatory and technical documentation in force on the territory of the work.
The work was carried out in strict accordance with the applicable regulations and standards for environmental protection in accordance with the norms of the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, using special equipment and equipment that do not allow pollution and dumping of waste into the environment.
